2024 Olympic Kiteboarding

What is the fastest event in the Olympic summer games?

Kiteboarding.

After two decades of anticipation, kiteboarding will debut at the Olympic Games, marking a significant milestone in the sport's history, tune in August 4th - 8th to catch the action. The inaugural Olympic kiteboarding competition will be held at Marseille Marina, the official sailing venue for Paris 2024, located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. The coastal waters near Marseille offer optimal conditions for competitors, featuring consistent winds and a shoreline that aligns favorably with these prevailing winds.

Competitors will navigate a course delineated by buoys, which include both upwind and downwind sections. Throughout the event, athletes will adjust their kite positions and make strategic decisions to maximize their speed and efficiency. Speeds in this class can reach up to 40 knots.

Why watch? Olympian Cameron Maramenides, of Greece, made history by qualifying for the Paris games.  Do you know where he learned to kiteboard?  Right here on the Outer Banks! Olympian Annelous Lammerts, of Netherlands, is the 2019 Triple-S Champion and will set out to add to her already impressive trophy cabinet. Other US participants inclue 2022 Rolex Yachtswomen of the Year Daniela Moroz and Marcus Edegran of New York. If you're looking for people to root for, look no further!
