Weather Overview
November sees some great conditions in Cape Hatteras, NC. November is known for stronger winds, pumping surf and moderate temperatures. As we head into November, predominant wind (and swell) direction switches firmly to the north and northeast. We still get the occasional SW and SE winds which bring warmer temps and water. Air temps range from the 50’s up to the 70’s. Water is in the 50’s and 60’s with a 3/2mm or 4/3mm fullsuit being the call. Compared to the Mid Atlantic and Northeast, we are about 6 weeks behind your temps heading into the winter…..which means “Indian Summer” last longer on the Outer Banks!

Watermen’s Retreat

Battle of the Banks : October 15th – December 1st
The Battle of the Banks is an annual surf contest that throws in the best surfers of the OBX against the best surfers of Virginia Beach, cage match style! With a 6-week waiting period spanning the month of November, you know the conditions will be epic when this contest goes off. Known for some of the best beach break barrels in the world, Cape Hatteras in November provides the traveling surfer with the destination surf experience of a lifetime.
