February means two things at REAL and Watermen's Retreat. The phones start lighting up with lesson, camp and accommodations bookings, plus we start getting our first hints of spring sessions with warmer southwest winds. Our 2018 bookings have been higher than normal and choice weeks are already near full or full. If you’re interested in an early season strike mission, we start to see our first southwest winds in February. In fact, it’s blowing SW 20-25mph with temps around 60f as we’re writing this post. Our first REAL Kite Camp hits the water March 13th and you can save $200 on all REAL Kite Camps scheduled through April 8th. We also just finished another epic run of surf courtesy of Winter Storm Kalani. In fact, it was a February trip here in 1991 that won the heart of REAL/Watermen’s Co-Founder Trip Forman:
“I traveled here from New York in February 1991. I left New York with temps in the teens and a foot of snow on the ground. I arrived to pumping surf, temps in the 60s and SW wind every day. That run of conditions lasted four days. It was so good I was pinching myself. I couldn’t believe it could be that much warmer here.
