What is the Difference Between Low, Medium and High Aspect Foils?

Matt Nuzzo and James Jenkins break down the simple differences between low, mid, and high aspect foils. As Matt says above, this can be a lot of information so here is some of what Matt discusses in the video typed out to help visualize things.

Low Aspect Foils

• Narrow Span, Regular Chord
• Slowest stall speed
• Great for beginners to learn foiling
• Great for advanced riders to learn airs

Mid Aspect Foils

• Wider Span, Skinnier Chord
• More performance than Low Aspect
• More glide than low aspect
• Great for surf foiling, carves really well

High Aspect Foils

• Widest Span, Skinniest Chord
• Highest performance, maximum glide
• Great for pumping
• Increased stall speed
• Doesn't turn as well as Mid Aspect
• Great for connecting waves and staying on foil
