REAL Watersports, the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational and the Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show presented a check for $13,262.00 locally this year to the Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund.

The Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational, hosted annually in Cape Hatteras since 2006, is widely regarded as the world’s #1 professional kiteboarding event. The Wind Voyager Triple-S attracts the world’s best kiteboarders, this year traveling from 13 different countries, to compete for $50,000 prize money. The Wind Voyager Triple-S is always hosted the first week in June, starting the Saturday after Memorial Day Weekend. Next year’s Wind Voyager Triple-S dates have already been confirmed for June 3rd – 9th, 2017. You can find more information about the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational at TripleSinvitational.com.

Now in it’s 6th year, the Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show is held during the Wind Voyager Triple-S event. This fashion forward event features the latest trends in men’s, women’s and kid’s clothing, swimwear and accessories. Brands featured in this year’s Sunset Swim included:
Billabong
Body Glove
Hurley
REAL

In previous years, Sunset Swim proceeds were directed towards “Athletes for Cancer”. This year and moving forward, the Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show has chosen to direct proceeds locally to the Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund. The 2016 Sunset Swim event raised $13,262.00. This check was presented to HIYEF Board Members at a ceremony held at REAL, Thursday July 7th 2016.

Sunset Swim founder Sensi Graves of Sensi Bikinis had this to say about the 2016 event: “One of our only concerns with the Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show over the years is that the local residents weren’t familiar with the charity we were raising money for. This year, it was our intention to really connect the fashion show with the community. It goes without saying that our future generations need guidance, support and opportunities to grow into great leaders and community members. With the limited resources on the island, we wanted to use Sunset Swim to bring awareness and funds to the local community members of tomorrow!”

“This year’s Sunset Swim event was the best yet. Partnering with HIYEF made us really focus on making it a fun event for the entire family. It was exciting to have kids participate in the event knowing that the money raised would directly impact their educational experience.” – Lulu Carson – Sunset Swim Event Director

“We’re excited that all the energy and excitement created by international events like the Wind Voyager Triple-S and Sunset Swim can be channeled locally towards the children of our community. You can’t host world-class events like these without the help of great sponsors. With regards to Sunset Swim partnering with the Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund, it’s important to shine the light on our local Outer Banks sponsors including the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Carolina Brewery, Outer Beaches Realty, KOA Campgrounds, Watermen’s Bar & Grill, Watermen’s Retreat, Ocean Atlantic Event Rentals, Waves Market and Deli, Lisa’s Pizzeria, Breeze Thru in Avon and 99.1FM The Sound. All of these organizations and businesses give back to our community and we are proud to have them as event partners.” – Trip Forman Co-Founder REAL Watersports and Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational

How the HIYEF funds are used:
The Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund (HIYEF) supports the educational needs of elementary and secondary school students on Hatteras Island by providing funding for equipment, materials and experiences that would otherwise not be available to these students through public funding.

“All of the Board Members were thrilled to receive such a generous donation! This contribution will enable the children of Hatteras Island to have SO MANY opportunities that would not otherwise be available to them. We can’t thank you enough for your support of our organization!” – Jean-Louise C. Dixon – Director Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund

Mark your calendars! Next year’s Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show will be held at REAL Thursday, June 8th, 2017. For more information about becoming a sponsor of the Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational and Sunset Swim Charity Fashion Show, contact Triple_S@realwatersports.com.
