Description

From Armstrong

The summer Wing Foiling season in New Zealand was incredible on both the West and East coasts. Wind, epic swells and empty waves for carving up and connecting, has seen Armie riding, testing and pushing himself in the search to improve the A-Wing.

Solid…Balanced…Powerful!
  • Solid… The A-Wing V2’s stiff airframe reduces sail deformation when highly powered, jumping or pumping the wing for power in light winds. The thick leading edge is not only for structural stability it also defines the nose radius of the aerofoil section which is responsible for generating the power of the wing in flight!
  • Balanced… Across a wide range of conditions, the A-Wing V2 is well balanced. The load distribution between the front and rear hand, make it comfortable and less physically fatiguing for long sessions. When riding waves or swells the V2 floats effortlessly on the font handle and feels more manoeuvrable when tacking, gibing or tricking around!
  • Powerful… Size for size the A-Wing V2 is powerful! The power delivery is progressive and balanced between both hands which makes riding easy, especially gaining speed to get on the fly or deep water starting short boards. This power also translates into high lofty jumps and great up wind angles.

6.5M Wing for Light Winds

I rode the 6.5M A Wing V2 over the weekend in 13mph of wind and paired with the 2400 foil and 132L FG board, the combo was epic. I could easily generate enough power to get the board up onto foil and once you are up, the wing doesn't feel oversized. The stability and behavior of the wing is really docile and doesn't feel like the V1. The power band is smooth and the handles work really well. I didn't have the power link control bar installed and it still felt really balanced. Overall great experience foiling in winds lighter than I thought I would be able to wing in.

My go to wing

I have had the V2 4.5m A Wing for just about one year now. I mostly use it on the ocean doing down winders riding waves. My normal session is on either a 62L or 80L board, Armstrong HS1250 foil, 4.5M A Wing, and winds between 19-25mph, and my weight is about 195lb. I have found this wing to be fantastic in the surf. It does a great job of providing good low end power to get you up and going on your water start. When you are on a wave and you are letting the wing drift, it feels nice and balanced and light. Its worked really well in the waves for me. In situations where the wind coming up the face of the wave twists and flips the wing over, its easy to pop it back right side up. This thing is also more durable than I expected. I have dropped it to get tumbled in the surf quite a few times. Multiple times I have pulled it back up expecting to have a torn canopy and its totally good to go.

The 5.5M size is also great for lighter winds. The frame is nice and taught so it gives good low end power in light winds.

I recently got to try out the 2.5m size during some crazy 35mph winds and it worked great! I've tried a different brand 2.8m wing in high winds before and it was just all over the place. This A-Wing felt relatively controlled and straight forward.

I prefer the V2 over the previous V1 wing. The V2 feels to be quite a bit more balanced between your front and back arms on the wing, letting me session longer without wearing me out.

Better than the F-One Strike

I love the this wing. It has amazing handling and with solid multiple handle grips that makes it much easier to ride. I was on the Fone strike before and I see that this wing depowers much more efficient. With the different grips and bar, the A-Wing allows you to stand in different positions on the board too. Love it!

A Wing 2.5m is a must for Maui

I have been getting blown off the water on my 3.5m A Wing. The 2.5m has been a necessary edition to my quiver for those cranking Maui days. I love the balance and control this wing has even in the gustiest conditions that Maui has been throwing at us. The new handles are great too.

Amazing balance

I am loving the v2 A Wing from Armstrong. This wing has the most power per size of any wing I have tested so you can ride at lease a half meter smaller wing. Even though it is a smaller wing, the V2 A Wing still has enough power and drive to get you out of the hole. I have been mostly riding my 34L Wing Surf board and the A Wing has the drive to pull me up and out of the water. Most other wings I need to size up a size to get going and the Armstrong I can size down.

The handles have been well improved in the V2 wing. They are stiffer so the power from pumping or handling, translate to forward speed and motion. They did add a nice thin paddled layer around the edges of the handle so they still feel plush and more comfortable than any other firm handle.

The double windows give you better forward and backward visibility. Most wings I can’t see out of, but the A Wing window update give you great downwind visibility with out making the canopy soft and flexy.

This wing has no flutter or unnecessary flex. The balance is perfect too. All handle positions feel really positive and controlled. The more balanced feel is most noticeable in over powered conditions. The V1 would get unruly where the V2 has more control at the top end.

Finally the addition of the 6.5m and 2.5m was well needed. The 2.5m has been awesome for those cranking and gusty days and the 6.5m has me riding a small board in 10 knots.
