REVOLUTIONIZING THE LIGHTWIND WING

Utterly unlike anything you've tried.

Foiling in light winds is a downright magical practice that changes the way you look at wind and water. Make the most of every opportunity to get in the water and no matter how light the forecast gets, the all new A-Wing XPS Lightwind will push you to progress. It packs a remarkable punch in even the slightest breeze while hardly being confined to any conventional "big wing" boxes; super maneuverable and engaging to ride, light and terrifically balanced, and an all-around no-brainer to fly. This is the new standard for lightwind fun, period.

THE POWER BATTEN

The Race Up Its Sleeve.

A primary design challenge with wings - large wings in particular - is making sure everything stays the right shape while riding. Located at the rear of the canopy perpendicular to the strut, our proprietary, patent-pending carbon fibre Power Batten maintains a precise airfoil profile along the full length of the wing from leading to trailing edge. This dramatically improves power generation through the center of the wing with hyper-efficient airflow and enables the wing's signature bat tail outline. A narrower wingspan with less outboard weight is more balanced, much easier to pump up onto foil and overall feels smaller than other wings of equivalent area all huge wins out on the water.

CROSS PANEL SAIL DESIGN

Where it all comes together.

The innovative Cross Panel Sail (XPS) design provides an outstanding connected feel to the wing when riding. By arranging the canopy panels at diagonal angles, this futuristic panel layout greatly reduces sail distortion and improves load distribution and frame rigidity. This gives all XPS Lightwind sizes a very direct and controlled feel for easy and comfortable flying. Removable carbon fibre battens minimise trailing edge flutter and provide easy canopy tuning for varying wind strengths.

AIRFRAME AND CANOPY

It's what you're made of.

Weight and stiffness are everything when chasing performance, especially in lightwind wings. The XPS Lightwind's leading edge is made from premium Penta TX Dacron which provides excellent torsional stiffness and rigidity while minimising weight and achieving real-world durability. Teijin Technoforce D3 canopy material is light and strong and complements the Cross Panel Sail Design perfectly. The canopy windows are made from an ultra-clear and foldable TPU which adds minimal weight to the setup while providing terrific visibility in all conditions.

GET A GRIP

Comfort through innovation.

The proprietary Hybrid Carbon Handle (HCH) design has a rigid carbon interior skeleton and a soft padded exterior. Also found on our XPS wings, it's a light and ultra-stiff combination that offers the best balance of control and comfort. The strut shape positions the handles in a highly ergonomic position to boost your session endurance. A lack of sharp, hard edges also adds an element of impact safety for you and your board.

I think this officially makes Light Wind Winging fun!

I have never been into light wind winging which I define as anything below 15mph. It usually means huge floppy wings where you are constantly digging the wing tips into the water, and that are a nightmare to flip over on the water, and that feel like a jellyfish when you are trying to pump them for power. I've had so many LW sessions where I am thinking to myself "Fun, this is fun right? Am I having fun?" The XPS Lightwind wing is none of those things. I couldn't believe how much fun I had on a recent session switching out with a friend between the 7m and 8m sizes. This is a really really good wing that just works, and works well, and somehow doesn't feel its actual size.

Main stand out characteristics was how direct the feeling was on the wing. When pumping for power during a water start it doesn't feel flappy with a big delay on the movement of the wing transferring out to the wing tips. It felt like one cohesive structure that responded really well. This made it so much easier than previous wings that I've tried to get up onto foil when under powered.

The other thing I was shocked with was how "light" the wing felt. When I would hold the wing by the front handle and pump straight downwind, straight towards the wing, it was fully stable and drifted perfectly with me which is CRAZY for a wing this size. I've tried this with 4m wings that completely failed at doing this.

Other thing that was impressive is that when I was using the 8m, I didn't feel over powered and out of control during the gusts. The 7m was plenty of power during my sessions, but when I would switch to the 8m wing it didn't feel like I was wrestling with too much power or getting pulled onto my toes while riding during a gust.

Not sure how Armie and the crew did it but this wing is insanely good.

7m XPS Lightwind is great for a guy that is 5'6

Very positive feedback on the light wing 7.0m.

Riding the 7.0 at wing hole today, I was the only one left foiling as the wind died out the single digits. I rode my 121l downwind board with the MA 1750. Bottom line, I Love the 7.0. It’s a keeper, a session saver

At 5‘6“, I rarely ever had the wing tips dropping into the water. I actually found it somewhat easier than my 6.0 XPS. Numerous times during takeoff, I noticed how the wingtip and strut barely touched the water. This was truly a session saver and actually a very stable fun wing to fly.

XPS Lightwind will have you riding in the lightest possible conditions,

The Armstrong XPS Lightwind has been designed to have a light weight feel that allows you to get litt in sub par conditions. The new Power Batten on the trailing edge locks in the deep draft for low end power and allows them to significantly reduce the wing span and material at the wing tips. This keeps the wing tips from catching while you pump up on to foil. The perfect balance of these wings allow our beginner lessons to succeed in conditions that were previously a struggle and our advance riders to push foiling into conditions previously not seen.

At 170 lbs the 7m is my go to size unless it is 10mph or less. In those conditions I go to the 8m and downwind board.
