The Downwind Performance boards are oriented specifically at expert riders chasing performance freeride and competitive downwind foiling. Stretched in length and reduced in width, the DWP boards feature an ultralight outer carbon innegra sandwich skin with our proven double stringer construction for exceptional stiffness and light weight.

EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE

Advanced hull design for maximum speed and efficiency.

The DWP boards incorporate design features that make them ultra efficient at paddling, popping up and recovering from touchdowns. Their length, paddling speed and tracking ability help riders get small foils flying with ease. A refined bow shape with a split foredeck pierce and shed water effortlessly, and the new diamond V tail and increased tail rocker pop off the water ultra efficiently.

Emphasising modularity within board design, Armstrong introduced a major innovation to wing boards in 2021 with the Forward Geometry concept. Designed to work with any brand of foil, the FG design increases responsiveness by placing the foil more centrally and reducing swing weight in turns. The Wing board range carries on that design legacy with FG foil tracks that are strategically placed well forward for maximum manoeuvrability and a hyper connected feel on foil, delivering high performance to riders on all the board sizes.

Inspired by the new deck grip design on the Wing FG foilboards, the Downwind Performance boards include a fully redesigned grip tailored specifically to provide riders with maximum control, comfort, and versatility when downwinding. In conjunction with the flatter deck shape, this grip features raised central bars above the foil tracks and elevated blocks in each corner of the pad, front, for intuitive foot placement.

    • Exceptional paddling speed thanks to a stretched outline and narrow width allows riders to get the smallest foils flying. Paddling stability is derived from length that minimises bobbing and excellent directional tracking.
  • Raised Deck Wedges & Arch Bars
    • Like on the Wing FG board range, raised deck grip arch bars and front/rear corner blocks provide intuitive foot placement references.
  • Diamond V Tail
    • All new tail shape with significantly more rocker and an extra chine to improve takeoff performance and minimise tail touchdowns when pumping and carving.
  • Carbon Foil Tracks
    • Proprietary carbon fibre foil tracks are keyed directly into the fibres of the stringers for a fully integrated construction

Best DW board available!

I rode the new 8’11” DW performance board in various conditions foiling and winging. At 185lbs, I was surprised at how stable it is, how easy it is to gain speed and how well it recovers if the nose or tail touch down while pumping. This is my new go to board when winging in 5-10kts and long distance downwinders in the ocean. If you have any prone foil experience or SUP race experience this is the board for you to take your foiling to the next level for straight line speed runs. If you are just starting out or looking to do more turns on waves I’d recommend going with other DW model in a shorter size with the same volume or 20L more than your current wing board
