Core XC Wing

Used 2.5., 3.5 4.5 most of the season in La Ventana ..improved beyond my hopes ..great wings no weakness and i rode them hard !!

I'm a long-time kitesurfer (11 years) who didn't immediately adapt to the wingfoil scene right away, and honestly I was pretty adverse to it at first. So here is my 2-month review after using several different hand-wings now, and using the CORE XC as my only hand-wing for the past 2-months.

I can confidently say that the XC has improved my skills a lot. The XC has a big wind range so I can trust that even in wavering wind conditions that I have the right amount of power, which is very important as a beginner/intermediate. Transitions were made easier thanks to the XC because it is so maneuverable and lightweight, even when jibing super fast down wind. The handles have been the biggest factor to my success though. They are very comfortable, and they provide direct and immediate feedback. each handle is placed exactly where I want them so trimming the XC for power is fast and simple.

Catching waves with the XC has been a real treat. It has loads of low end power to pull you into the wave, then shutting off the power is easy too. The wing is stable while surfing and getting back to the handles for power is easy too.

All-in-all, the new wingfoil products from CORE have been very confidence inspiring. I'm looking forward to seeing where this amazing CORE hand-wing takes me next.

This is a much better offering than expected and I had a great time on the 5M in 16 g20 mph of wind. The power band reminds me of the A Wing V1 where it is more of an on and off switch than a smooth transition. Because of that fact, it really holds power well when you are performing transitions and when you are riding downwind. It also felt a bit heavy and grunty, which will aid you in lighter winds when you really need a solid low end boost. With that said, it does feel a fair bit heavier when you are riding and when you are trying to flip it over and it always tries to stay on its back when it is drifting on the water which is a little annoying but not a deal breaker. I think overall, Core customers can be proud that they have a great wing from the company that they love so that when they finally make the decision to take on this fantastically frustrating fun sport, they will not have to look any further than Core!

Core makes amazing kites. They are strong, last a long time, feel great, have the best construction and excellent performance. That being said, I wasn't expecting much on the wing front because they kind of poo poo-ed winging for a while.

I was wrong and they came to market with an excellent wing. Better late than never I guess. It is made with their great kite materials and the shape works insanely well. Super balanced, great get up and go drive, comfortable in gusts and the easiest wing rolling side to side in the tacks.

The things l didn't like is that they used the heavier window material rather than that light stuff Armstrong started using. The front handle is too soft and takes some twisting to get the control I want while riding a swell. The wing flips on to it's back easily so you have to choke up on the leash while setting up on your board.

Overall this wing is amazing and rides really well. Few small points that I thought that they missed on, but those are well overshadowed by an excellent wing.
