Fast, loose and ultra rippable.
“We added a touch more tail rocker in the Prime, which gives it a tighter turning radius and lets you get up into the lip a little easier. The hip in the outline keeps it lively and loose. ”
Jon Pyzel
The Radius Prime is the updated design of the original Pyzel Radius, incorporating everything Jon Pyzel and the team had learned with the OG.
“I wanted to update it, added a small amount of width in the nose and a tiny bit of tail rocker. Just a little refresh.” - Jon Pyzel
The board Brett Barley is riding in Under The Glass | Season 2 Ep 6 is the OG file, as it was ordered before the a Radius Prime was released. If you’re looking for that exact board, REAL can help you write up a custom order with Brett’s exact design file.
Fast, loose and ultra rippable, The Radius Prime is a newly re-tuned version of the Radius, our ultimate High Performance Shortboard design which is a favorite of our international team and was Jordy Smith’s pick for winner of Stab in the Dark. We wanted to offer something fresh, while staying true to the best aspects of the original design that everyone who rides one seems to love.
Still meant to be ridden in better waves, The Radius Prime has a continuous med/high bottom rocker for easy turning and a single concave to add lift and drive. We added a touch more tail rocker in the Prime, which gives it a tighter turning radius and lets you get up into the lip a little easier. The hip in the outline keeps it lively and loose. We also increased the nose width which helps add drive and better flow.
The Prime is a winning choice for everything from punchy beach breaks, lined up point waves and any sort of reef break around the world. Just like its predecessor, it does work best in waves where there is some curve in the faces and will allow you to push the board into the well overhead range with ease.
The Radius Prime is state of the art high performance, and we believe it’s a great board for anyone who is ready to level up their surfing. We added about a liter more foam per size in our stock dims and we also recommend the roundtail version as a slight step-up if you want to push yourself a bit further.
