Lift X vs Foil Drive

With the launch of the all-new Lift X, the big question we are getting is what is the difference between the Lift X and Foil Drive? Matt Nuzzo gives an overview of the differences as well as the pros and cons of each. 
Lift X Pros:
  • Superior power and speed offer easy take-off in flat water for any size rider
  • Can ride smaller foils due to the amount of power
  • Effortless transition from power on to off for high and low prop versions 
  • Plush product that comes complete with no assembly from the factory
  • Fast and Easy LCS battery and mast install
  • High-end controller that has governed settings, great trigger actuation, lots  of on screen information, and floats
  • Great board design
  • Fast charge time: 30minutes to 80% and 45 minutes to 100%
  • High-quality bags for board, foils, and mast as well as waterproof bag for battery
  • No maintenance needed
Lift X Cons:
  • Expensive
  • 10-15 lbs heavier than a complete board with Foil Drive
  • Not compatible with other foils than Lift
  • No travel battery option
  • Can’t adjust the mast position

 

Foil Drive Pros:
  • Less expensive accessory that you can add to existing foil set up.
  • Lightweight. Adds 11-13 lbs to your existing foil kit
  • Inexpensive to change prop height on the mast by swapping the cable
  • Travel battery option 
  • Case included to store FD kit when not installed on board
Foil Drive Cons:
  • DIY hobbyist feel that requires set up
  • Needs regular maintenance
  • Lacks power
  • Long charge time about 3hrs with stock charger
  • Need to ride bigger foils due to lack of power
  • Basic controller that doesn't float
